I chose this recipe because when I lived with my friend in London she cooked it for me and I really enjoyed it. I also like because it remind me of the good times that we used to have with her every time she cooked this dish. And it reminds me of Africa and my mum and the times we used to all sit and eat using our hands, how I miss those times!

5 onions
2 fresh tomatoes
6 carrots
½ white cabbage
Mustard
potatoes
100 g lean meat
100g basmati rice
1 lemon
Black pepper
maggie cubes
6 schotch bonnets

Steps
Peel and chop all the vegetables. Put a large pan of water, bring to boil, add the stock cubes, mixed herbs and tomato puree. Add all the vegetables and simmer, after 30 minutes add the cooked lentils (cook lentils in microwave in water for 40 minutes until soft)

Dumplings: mix flour, suet and herbs with water, make a dough. Then roll the dough into balls and add to pan, leave for 15 minutes.

Then the dish is cooked and ready to serve.

Wash the meat with salt and lemon, marinate it with the mustard, black pepper, lemon, 3 maggie cubes in the mixing bowl. Leave it to stand.
Cut the onions, carrots, peel, cut the potatoes, cabbage.
Heat the pan add on
Fry the carrots till they are half cooked
Fry the potatoes till they are half cooked
Take them all out and half of the chopped onions.
onions till brown, add the meat and leave it to cook for a while.
And the chopped cabbage cook for 20 minutes
And the rest of the onions
And the rest of the Maggie cubes
And the fried potatoes and carrots
Leave it to cook on slow heat
Last step is to boil the rice
